The Museum of the Mountain Man in Pinedale provides a deep dive into the history of the Rocky Mountain fur trade and the rugged lives of the mountain men who played a key role in shaping the American West during the 19th century. The museum houses a wide range of exhibits, from artifacts such as Jim Bridger’s rifle to archaeological finds from Fort Bonneville. It also hosts annual events like Living History Days and the Green River Rendezvous, bringing the era to life through reenactments and educational programs.

Standing on top of Corcovado Mountain, 710 meters above sea level, Christ the Redeemer overlooks the metropolis below with outstretched arms. The statue named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, embraces the whole city, welcomes and protects, yet appears to keep a watchful eye on locals and visitors. Venture up through the Tijuca Rain Forest to the top of the mountain for a closer look and be rewarded by fabulous views of the Sugar Loaf Mountain, Copacabana, Ipanema, the Maracanã Stadium, and the Serra do Órgãos mountain range. You can hike up to the statue or comfortably reach it by way of a twenty-minute tram/car ride.

The best sandy beach in the region can be found just south of this pretty fishing port on Apulia's west coast, about 80 km (50 miles) south of Brindisi, where yet another medieval castle guards a fine natural harbour overlooked by old whitewashed houses. Gallipoli has plenty of places to stay suiting all budgets and some excellent fish restaurants.
