The inhabitants of this idyllic village lived for centuries hidden in a valley behind a huge row of mountains. It was so hard to climb the mountain chain that people preferred to go to Palma by boat. And if they were on a boat anyway, why not go to France? Soller became tri-lingual — Mallorcan, Spanish, and French. In 1911, a tunnel was dug through the mountains so that the people of Soller could finally have better access to their own island. The town's charming little train still runs today. The ride from Palma to Sóller lasts about an hour, and it offers beautiful mountain views.

Right in the centre of Mallorca lies Sineu, the island's oldest village. For over a thousand years, farmers have gathered in this picturesque town to trade cows, bulls, horses, sheep, mules, ducks, hens, and swans at the market each Wednesday.

Day 1 – Manhattan Start at the world-famous Rockefeller Center, where you can tour NBC Studios, meet a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall, and browse the shops (including a LEGO Store and a Nintendo Store). Active families can spend time exploring the nature trails at Staten Island’s Greenbelt Conservancy or the beautiful gardens at Snug Harbor. Let your younger children’s imagination run wild at the Staten Island Children’s Museum. Day 4 – Queens A family day in Queens should include a visit to the New York Hall of Science, a hands-on, interactive museum. Spend time outside at the Queens County Farm Museum. Families who love sports can catch a Mets game at Citi Field or take a behind-the-scenes tour of the ballpark. Day 5 – Bronx The must-see attraction here is the Bronx Zoo, the largest urban zoo in the country. Stroll through the colorful flora at Wave Hill’s public gardens and enjoy views of the Hudson River. See the 27-time World Champion Yankees play at Yankee Stadium.

At the northeastern tip of Öland, by the gate to Trollskogen (Troll Forest) nature reserve, you'll find Trollskogen nature centre. Many of the forest's trees are ancient, aged between 100–200 years. Crooked pine trees, sculpted by the winds from the sea, contort in imaginative forms. Here, you'll also find spruce and venerable oaks.
