Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006, Via Garibaldi is lined with resplendent Renaissance palaces, constructed by Genoa's wealthiest families during the 16th and 17th centuries. Palazzo Bianco is home to an extensive collection of Italian and Flemish art, featuring works by illustrious artists such as Rubens, Van Dyck, and Caravaggio. Meanwhile, Palazzo Rosso showcases an incredible collection of art that has been amassed over the course of two centuries by the Brignole-Sale family.

This building is composed of a church, convent and university, all completed at different times. On the exterior, there are two striking renaissance doorways, featuring the founder's family coat of arms and the shield of the Dominican Order. The Baroque entrance to the University shows an allegorical figure representing wisdom. Human figures adorn the Baroque tower. Inside are two magnificent cloisters, the Renaissance one in the convent and the University own Baroque example. The church is a renaissance building with later Baroque additions. An interesting feature in the Renaissance doorway leading to the sacristy and refectory, dating from the late 16th Century with a fascinating base covered in Vatican tiling from the 18th Century.

In Askeberga, near Tidan, lies one of Sweden's intriguing mysteries—an impressive stone monument featuring 24 large stones arranged in an oval shape. Amidst medieval estates and churches in the affluent past, the purpose of these stones is uncertain—perhaps a market, parliament, or religious site. This mystery continues to defy explanation, leaving Askeberga's true purpose shrouded in history.
