One of the finest examples of Medieval architecture in Palermo, the church of Saint John of the Hermits (Chiesa di San Giovanni degli Eremiti) is famous for its red domes and architectural design that was greatly influenced by the Arabs during the 12th century. This was originally a mosque that was later converted into a Christian church dedicated to Sicily's hermit monks. Walk along the pretty garden of regional plants and the ruins of the cloister.

The Bells Monument outside the city centre of Sofia was installed in 1979, when UNESCO declared it International Year of the Child. The monument presents more than 70 bells from across the world, on pillars that are marked with a message from children from the respective nation. Occasionally, the seven main bells, one for each continent at the top of the central pillar, ring along to parades or events held around the monument.

Gigantic "Super-trees" house 158,000 plants that help offset some of the city’s carbon emissions. They also collect rainwater into reservoirs that are used to water the rest of the park. Some of the "Super-trees" are equipped with solar panels.
