Boquete has become one of the most important coffee growing regions in the world with 1600 independent coffee producers and more than 25 companies that process coffee. Approximately 800 meters below the ground lie the ancient las Maravillas caves, whose age is estimated to be somewhere around 100,000 years. The caves are now open to the public, and an option of taking the elevator back up exists for those not thrilled about the upwards climb. See stalactite and stalagmite formations, wall pictographs, and even local fauna (iguanas).

The Basilica of St Felix is one of Girona’s oldest churches, a site of continuous worship since the early Christian period. Its architecture is a palimpsest of styles: a Romanesque core, a majestic Gothic nave, and a Baroque façade topped by a distinctive truncated bell tower. The interior safeguards priceless treasures, including eight rare Roman and early Christian sarcophagi and the ornate 14th-century Gothic tomb of Sant Narcís, the city's patron saint. Though never the cathedral, its historical and artistic importance is profound. It remains an active parish church, offering a quieter but deeply atmospheric counterpoint to the larger cathedral nearby.

In Greek mythology, the stunning Andromeda was chained to a rock along the shore as a sacrifice to a sea monster. She was saved by the hero Perseus, and the two eventually married. According to legend, the rock where Andromeda was once bound still remains today.
