Getterön Nature Reserve — a Bird Sanctuary
The guide was updated:Getterön is a nature reserve that encompasses an area of 3.5 square kilometres, including parts of the Getterön peninsula. It's mainly popular due to its exceptional bird watching opportunities, providing hiding spots and observation positions that allow visitors to get up close to the birds without disturbing them.
During spring and autumn, large numbers of species regularly breed or nest here. In addition to the permanent bird residents in Getterön, a large number of temporary guests flock to the area, contributing to a remarkable total of 336 recorded species in the region.

World Heritage Grimeton Radio Station
The radio station in Grimeton was opened in 1925 for wireless radio links and today represents a unique technological heritage. It was added to UNESCO's list of world heritage sites in 2004. The facility, along with its six accompanying aerial towers, serves as the sole surviving example of a once-global network of long wave stations.
Guided tours of the radio station are available as well as a visitor and information centre containing both a café and a shop.

In various locations, such as the peninsulas of Rödskär, Subbe, Getterön, and Norra Näs, you may also find sea trout, salmon, cod, haddock, and pollocks. However, it's important to note that these species are protected, and fishing is restricted to specific months of the year.

Snorkelling
There are different locations to snorkel in Varberg. They extend over sandy bottoms, eelgrass beds, and seaweed-covered rocks. In most outdoor bath spots there are white buoys located in shallow water while the red ones are placed in deeper water.
The depth can vary depending on the low and high tide, but the maximum depth is about three meters and minimum depth is approximately one meter. Första vik Getterön is one of the most frequented places for snorkelling, but if you're accompanied by children, Tredje vik Getterön is a more suitable option with its shallower and safer waters.
