The warmest months in Groningen are June through September, although these are also the months that bring the most precipitation. Regardless, August is best if you also plan to hit the beaches. As a cultural hub, Groningen hosts festivals throughout the year: the major crowd-pullers are Eurosonic Noorderslag in January and Noorderzon in August.

The Netherlands can be visited visa-free for up to 90 days by citizens of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Israel, UAE and most countries in America. Pharmacies are called 'apotheek' in Dutch and are easy to find in most neighbourhoods of Groningen. They are generally open from around 8am to 6pm. Oosterpoort pharmacy is a 10-minute walk from the city centre and is one of the many branches of Service Apotheek.
