San Diego - Bars & Nightlife
San Diego’s nightlife suits a wide variety of tastes and there is no shortage of hip hangouts. From the legendary jazz clubs to the jet set bars, many venues are just waiting to be discovered. Note that you can’t buy drinks after 2 a.m. The legal drinking age is 21.
Anthology
This cozy multi-level music venue is a favorite among jazz lovers and perfect for a first romantic date. Also an excellent choice for vodka martinis.
Casbah
The legendary Casbah is a small club with a big reputation for supporting the best up-and-comings bands. Has often been called the best music venue in San Diego.
The Ivy
Three hot spots in one place – that is what you get at Andaz. The hotel’s spacious rooftop bar – Eden – is the largest in town, and a hit with the in-crowd. The same can be said for Ultra Lounge, the hip lobby downstairs, and if you are really serious about clubbing, don’t miss its latest addition Envy.
The Tower Bar
Described as “a cool joint” by regulars, the Tower Bar is an authentic dive bar that attracts a benign mixture of blue-collar workers and rockabilly-loving hipsters. Beer offerings include over 20 brands.
The Waterfront Bar & Grill
The Waterfront is the oldest neighborhood bar in town and used to be Little Italy’s working-class refuge. Today, it is a landmark where you hang out with locals and listen to live jazz and blues.
Wine Steals
This busy Hillcrest wine bar gets crowded - and not just on weekends. The happy hour starts at 11 a.m. A second bar is located in Point Loma.
