A miniature hotel by the harbour? A castle with a resident ghost? West Sweden offers all types of accommodation. For all budgets. Below are some suggestions for places to stay, including everything from castles, country houses and spa resorts, to seaside inns and hotels.
Marstrands Havshotel
Marstrand’s Maritime Hotel is located at the last pier before the sea takes over. Here you will find tranquility, locally grown and freshly harvested produce, a salt spa with many pools and treatments, 98 rooms and affordable packages for evenings, weekends and holidays. In addition, close proximity to the sea and access to the world’s westernmost terrace.
Bryggan Fjällbacka
Fjällbacka’s picturesque yachting harbour is the location of Bryggan Fjällbacka, which has approximately ten guest rooms, a penthouse, and an apartment. The hotel is housed in old warehouses from the 18th century, now converted and tastefully decorated in a light and bright Newport style. From the penthouse you can see straight into the piano bar, or out across the ocean. The apartment has generous panorama windows facing the sea, a terrace which is not overlooked, and have been classed as ‘a first class experience’ by satisfied guests. In 2005, the restaurant was voted Best Restaurant in Bohuslän by White Restaurant Guide. During the warm summer months diners can enjoy newly caught fresh fish and shellfish, sitting right next to the water. From the piano bar you can look out over the harbour and the inlet.
Idas Brygga
With its wonderful location in Karlsborg, by Lake Vättern and overlooking Göta Canal, Idas Brygga offers seaside accommodation, good food, and nature-based activities. Two types of accommodation are available: the double rooms in Skepparhuset, adjacent to the restaurant, have their own outdoor seating area or balcony overlooking the canal. Idas Brygga has been given the title Very Good Value Restaurant by the guides Sveriges Bästa Bord and White Guide. The Strandgården Accommodation is located a 10-15-minute walk from the restaurant. Here, guests can watch the sun setting over the lake Bottensjön, and enjoy musical entertainment or stand-up comedy organised by the restaurant.

Floating hotel - Salt & Sill
Salt & Sill, in the historic fishing community Klädesholmen is proud to be Sweden’s first floating hotel. The hotel consists of six two-storey buildings, constructed on floating pontoons. The room interiors are characterised by modern Scandinavian simplicity, and some of the ground floor rooms have their own swim ladder straight into the Skagerrak. The entire roof of the hotel is used as a sundeck, and there is a Jacuzzi with sea views. The sauna boat, SS Silla, is moored next to the hotel. Salt & Sill’s coastal restaurant serves fish, shellfish, and the ‘Herring Board’ – a dish which has contributed to the restaurant’s international renown. Salt & Sill has been given the titles "Worth a Journey" and "White’s Heart" by the White Guide and the quality certification Västsvensk Mersmak from the West Sweden Tourist Board.
Villa Sjötorp
The beautiful Villa Sjötorp was built in 1901 and has for more than a century enchanted guests with its original architecture, ornate woodwork, and traditional design. The rooms have been furnished to meet modern demands for comfort, but without compromising on the feeling of being in the countryside. Nearby is a sandy beach, which is suitable for swimming. A three-minute walk away is one of the most beautiful golf courses in Sweden, and guests can enjoy pleasant walks in forests and on mountains, fishing, sailing, and nature experiences. Stora Hotellet in Fjällbacka

Welcome to a unique place to stay, situated on the beautiful Vara Plain, and with a fascinating history. The guest rooms have their own stories to tell, in exciting combinations of colours, materials, and patterns. This is where the Jugend style, from the turn of the last century, meets the creature comforts of the 21st century. Grand Hotel Marstrand
Grand Hotel Marstrand offers first class accommodation in one of Marstrand’s most impressive buildings. It was built in 1892, as a summer residence for King Oscar II, and ever since it has been famous for its traditional charm and well thought through architecture, not to mention the amazing sea views. During the summer months and the international sailing competitions, Grand Hotel is the place to be seen, and the natural meeting place for sailing enthusiasts, celebrities, and royals. Restaurant Grand Tenan serves popular classics like Filet of Beef Africana and Tenan’s garlic-baked langoustines. Grand Tenan has been selected by White Guide, Sweden’s Best Tables, and Västsvensk Mersmak.
Gullmarsstrand Hotel & Conference
Between the ocean and the granite hills, in the village of Fiskebäckskil, where stillness meets the forces of nature, is Gullmarsstrand Hotel & Conference. Sea Lodge Smögen
At the far end of Nordmanshuvud, one paddling stroke from the famous Smögen Pier you are close to everything that goes on. At Sea Lodge, the focus is on the food, the environment, and the activities. Sleep provides important "preparation" for the following day’s experiences, and must therefore be enjoyed in the best possible way – namely in a Carpe Diem-bed. Most of the guest rooms have a wonderful view over the southern archipelago of Smögen and Hållö Lighthouse, and guests can enjoy a soak in our wood-fired hot tubs. Laholmen Hotel
By the sea in the north of Bohuslän, and right in the middle of Strömstad town centre, is Laholmen Hotel – a stylish full-service hotel. This is a big establishment, with an amazing view over the sea and the yachting harbour, where guests can enjoy the rich offerings of a small town within easy walking distance. Spa & Resort Strömstad
The large lifestyle hotel Quality Spa & Resort Strömstad is situated on Nötholmen in Strömstad. Smögens Havsbad
Smögen’s Havsbad has become a part of the history of the island, and its spectacular extension built partly inside the mountain, has contributed to the fact that many consider this to be one of the most beautiful hotels in Sweden. The part that faces the ocean fits seamlessly into its surroundings, with its large glassed areas and its façade of oiled cedar wood. There are 70 guest rooms and three suites. The hotel has a spa centre with a wide range of treatments, a large conference area, and a modern à la carte-restaurant which specialises in fish and shellfish. Sydkoster Hotell Ekenäs
Right on the edge of Kosterhavet Marine National Park is Hotel Ekenäs Sydkoster. At this traditional seaside hotel you can choose between single, double or triple rooms, your own suite or apartment. Tanumstrand
Just south of Grebbestad you’ll find Tanumstrand Hotel, which also has holiday cottages and a guest harbour. Vann is a four-star hotel, which holds both an environmental certification and the quality mark Svanen, in an unbeatable location in a nature reserve by the shore of the Gullmar Fjord. This is a peaceful resort, where guests can enjoy the beautiful natural landscape and Vann’s great facilities.
