Limerick & Clare - Essential Information
Airport
Shannon Airport is located approximately 15 miles (6 kms) north of Limerick City. There are direct year round services to and from many destinations in UK and Europe. There are also regular international flights to the USA and other worldwide destinations.
There is a regular bus service from the airport to the bus station in Limerick city centre. Buses from the airport start at 0645 and run approximately every half hour. The first bus from the bus station to the airport leaves at 0520. A detailed timetable is available from the Bus Eireann
Taxis are available at the 24-hour taxi desk in the arrivals hall and cost approximately €30 to Limerick city centre.
Vehicle Hire is readily available but advance reservation is recommended particularly during main holiday periods. If you are intending to hire a vehicle please ensure you have a current driving licence.
Public Transport
Bus Eireann provide the State bus service in Ireland. The main Bus Terminal is located at Colbert Station in Parnell Street, 5 minutes walk from the city centre. Bus services can get you to all major locations in Ireland.

The Tourist Office on Arthur’s Quay has a free bus information phone service.
For rail travel, visit Colbert Station in the city centre.
Taxi
Taxis and Hackney Cabs are available in Limerick. Taxis can be hailed down in the street, or found at taxi ranks in several locations in the city centre. Hackney Cabs must be booked from offices. Costs are measured by distance and Taxis have a metre. If you have to be somewhere at a particular time, it is wise to book in advance as offices can be quite busy. All hotels will have a local taxi number.
