For those who want to sample the local cuisine, the Balhambar Restaurant is the only one in Doha to serve classic Qatari food. Otherwise, the Arabic food served in Doha’s restaurants tends to be Lebanese, Syrian or Egyptian.

Family-run Lebanese restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere. Try a traditional meal of hummous with savoury lamb and seasoned rice. Also serves shwarmas to take away: grilled slivers of lamb or chicken, mixed with salad and tahini sauce and rolled in a thin slice of Arabic bread.

Best Fish Restaurant
Doha has a wide range of seafood and international food. Popular choices are fried hammour with rice or french fries, garlic shrimp or grilled lobster. The fast food chains such as Chillis, Taco Bell and Ponderosa all have outlets centred around the Ramada junction on the corner of the C-Ring Road and the Salwa Road. Alcohol is served only in restaurants within the major hotels.
