A day in Randers
In Randers all sights lie close to one another so that during a day’s time in Randers you can experience many sights without having to catch your breath! Leave your car in the parking garage at the harbour Randers Havn and follow the Star Route round the town. The Star Route is almost 3km and shows the way to great stories and exiting places around town. The large stars turn your attention to something special, whereas the smaller stars guide you on the right path. In the leaflet “Stjerneruten i Randers” you will find descriptions and explanations on the Route. Take a lunch break at Niels Ebbesens Spisehus for example, which is the setting for the stories about Niels Ebbesen who killed the crazy Count in the year 1340 on that very spot.
Nature
The nature around Randers offers possibilities of historic and peaceful hiking tours – here you can lose yourself in thoughts on an early morning at sunrise in the game reserve Sødring Vildtreservat which is situated at the place where the fjord flows into the Kattegat. The seals, which play on the polders, and the rich bird life in Randers Fjord are waking up. These are moments which last, and you forget the sense of time. A quiet hike in the footsteps of the pilot – a 32 km-long tour along Randers Fjord may continue along the bargeman’s path all the way to Silkeborg. Thus the hiking tour becomes a further 71 km long. While you walk, the time stands still. Spend a relaxing night on a camping site, or in an inn or a hotel.

The Old Townhall
The old town hall from 1780 was designed by building master Chr. Mørup. In connection with the renovation of an even older town hall it was decided that the building was outdated, and in stead a totally new building was erected. Chr. Mørup made a sketch in only 6 days, and it was approved by the mayor. Because of the increasing motor traffic, it was decided to move the town hall in 1930. The town hall was lifted onto strong iron balks so that it was possible to draw it by means of ropes. A granite angle in the pavement south of the building marks the previous site of the house.
